Whatever it is, feel free to ask and be involved in the design process.

Purchasing and contracting process

Design.

The process starts by contacting us with a desire to create a one of a kind piece. To get an idea of what you are after, everything helps. Sketches, pictures, magazine clippings, a finish sample, size requirements and verbal description are all helpful. I am a big believer in the collaborative design process, and as such I encourage my clients to be active in helping design their project. If price is an issue please feel free discuss. There are several ways to assemble furniture. I prefer to not use mechanical fasteners, but in some cases this can significantly reduce cost and time. I use Sketchup to draft ideas into complete and easy to read drawings with dimensions and materials spelled out clearly.

I require a design approval to start. I will send you initial drawings of your project based on the information you have provided me to start with. I can send you this electronically or via U.S. postal service. If the design is exactly what you want, we're done with the design portion of your project. If it's not exactly what you intended, you mark up the drawings accordingly and I change the design and send you another set. Sometimes it takes two or three rounds to get exactly what you are looking for. This is important, as I want you to get exactly what you want and be very involved in the design. When friends ask about your piece, you can say "I helped designed that".

Returns And Refunds.

Returns are accepted within 30 days. You can return for any reason within that 30 days for a full refund. After 30 days, items may be returned undamaged for refund deducting labor cost from estimate. (full sale price – labor)

Contract And Down Payment.

Once we have a design set, I will send you a contract to be signed. The contract spells out specifically what the obligations are of both parties. All labor, materials and finishes will be itemized in your estimate. I will send pictures of the build as it progresses.

I will need you to sign and date the final drawings, contract, and estimate. This can be done by taking a picture with your cell phone and sending a text. I require a 50% deposit prior to starting project. We can make payment arrangements for whatever works best for you. Once payment has cleared, you will receive a receipt and a start date for your project.

Final Payment And Shipping.

Once I have completed your project, I will notify you and will require the final payment to be made prior to shipping your project. Shipping method and pricing will be determined based on the size and weight of your project. I will work with you to get the most cost effective and safest shipping available. Local orders may of course be picked up, or for a small fee delivered.

Legal Crap.

By signing this contract, Purchaser acknowledges that variation in grain, color, and texture are inherent in many species of wood and are not considered defects. Several species of wood have irregularities in growth that produce dark patches, mineral streaks, small worm holes, or tight knots which are all considered enhancements to the character of the wood and overall product. Wood products are exposed to a variety of conditions and are expected to shrink and swell  seasonally. This constant flux of movement can produce surface checking, or hairline cracks at the joints which are not considered flaws.

Legacy Furniture cannot be responsible for inadequate protection or extreme exposure to the elements which would adversely affect the structural stability, finish longevity and finish effectiveness. Proper overhang, installation, finishing, and maintenance will determine the service life of any wood product.

Any payment due hereunder that is not received within (15) days after becoming due, shall bear interest at the highest rate per month allowed by law. In the event Legacy Furniture shall be required to institute legal proceedings for recovery of any payments due hereunder, Purchaser shall pay all costs, including attorney fees and paralegal fees incurred by Legacy Furniture as a result of such default in payment regardless of whether a lawsuit shall be instituted.
